What we do
NPI Central indexes the federal NPPES dataset — roughly 9.6 million National Provider Identifier records — and presents it as a clean, fast directory. You can search any provider or organization by name, NPI, specialty, credential, or location, free and without an account.
Why we built it
The official NPI Registry is authoritative but slow to browse and hard to explore. We rebuilt the experience around instant search, faceted filtering, and readable provider profiles, while citing the source and refresh date on every page.
Where the data comes from
Everything is sourced from public federal datasets — the CMS NPPES Data Dissemination file and the NUCC taxonomy crosswalk. See our data sources & methodology for the full detail.
What we are not
NPI Central is not affiliated with or endorsed by CMS. We are not a consumer reporting agency, and the data must not be used for any purpose covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Information is provided for general reference and is not medical advice.
